New freight flow coming to Hartlepool Docks

A new plant is to be established next year on Hartlepool’s former Heerema site to manufacture 36,000 concrete segments for the HS2 twin bore tunnels under London to the west of Old Oak Common station. Each segment weighs around seven tonnes. From early 2023 this will result in the first regular train service from Hartlepool Docks for many years, delivering the segments to the Willesden construction terminal.
