Grand Central North East Route 

Due to industrial action we will be running an amended service on the North East.

Sunderland station will be open from 07:00 -19:00.

Hartlepool station will be shut all day, passengers will not be able to board or disembark at Hartlepool.

Eaglescliffe station will be open as normal.

Service changes are as follows:

06:46 Sunderland to Kings Cross is retimed to depart Sunderland later and is retimed throughout:

  • Sunderland: 07.05
  • Eaglescliffe: 07.53
  • Northallerton: 08.16
  • Thirsk: 08.25
  • York: 08.43
  • Kings Cross: 10.49

The 16:48 London Kings Cross to Sunderland will terminate at Eaglescliffe, it will not call at Hartlepool or Sunderland. 

The 19:18 London Kings Cross to Sunderland will terminate at Eaglescliffe, it will not call at Hartlepool or Sunderland.  

If your train has been cancelled, your ticket will be valid to travel on any Grand Central service the day your ticket is valid. You may also travel the day before or after the date printed on your ticket. Alternatively you can contact Grand Central Customer Support to amend your travel date or request a refund from your point of purchase.

We shall be holding a meeting with transport officers from Hartlepool and from the Tees Valley Combined Authority on Thursday March 16th at 2.00pm, in the People’s Centre on Raby Road, Hartlepool.

The speakers are  TONY HANSON (Hartlepool Borough Council), STEVE PAYNE (Tees Valley Combined Authority), DAVID COOPER (TVCA)  and ALAN WESTON (TVCA). They will give us one or more presentations on the intended future development of rail services and facilities on our line, and then we shall have chance to discuss these – and probably other relevant points – with them.
