More work on the East Coast Main Line south of Grantham to prepare for European Train Control System (ECTS) digital in-cab signalling means that the line into Kings Cross will be closed and there will be no Grand Central trains on the following dates

Saturday & Sunday 10th/11th February

Saturday to Tuesday 17th to 20th February

LNER will  operate a limited service from the north-east as far as Grantham or Peterborough

The Office of Rail and Road has finally given the go-ahead for two of Grand Central’s trains in each direction to call at Peterborough, which is a key interchange on the East Coast Main Line with routes from Stansted/Norwich to the West Midlands and North West. The approval enables two existing daily GC services in each direction – one each from Sunderland and Bradford to London King’s Cross – to call at Peterborough starting Monday 22nd January.

The North East trains will Monday to Friday be, southbound the 1017 from Sunderland arriving Peterborough 1259, and northbound the 0827 from Kings Cross departing Peterborough 0914.

On Saturdays the corresponding trains are 0955 from Sunderland (Peterborough 1255) and 0748 from Kings Cross (Peterborough 0836). No trains will call on Sundays.

Due to work in connection with ETCS (digital signalling) between Peterborough and Kings Cross there will be no Grand Central trains running over the weekends of 6th/7th or 13th/14th January. The last southbound trains on the Friday evenings and the first northbound trains on the Monday mornings will also be cancelled. There are no trains at all scheduled to run south of Grantham, so no services by any operator into Kings Cross
