"A Voice for Durham Coast Rail Users"

Grand Central

Throughout November there are changes to train times at weekends due to engineering work closing the East Coast Main Line at Grantham. Trains are diverted via Lincoln extending the journey time by about one hour. Some afternoon/evening trains are cancelled or run earlier and most trains leave Kings Cross around one hour earlier than normal. Check times before yon travel.

On  Saturdays 9th & 16th December an additional train will run from Sunderland to York for the Christmas markets as follows

Sunderland      0911

Hartlepool       0935

Eaglescliffe     0955

Northallerton  1027

Thirsk              1036

York arr           1100

Passengers for York are encouraged to travel on this service which is expeced to be less crowded than the preceding Kings Cross train

TransPennine Express

Until 9th December TPE have introduced a revised ‘leaf-fall’ timetable on the North TransPennine route. This gives better connections at Thornaby from the Coastline into TPE southbound York/Leeds/Manchester services on Monday to Friday mornings.

Northern will be introducing an improved Sunday timetable on the Coastline from 10th December, more closely replicating the weekday timetable with hourly services  between Metro Centre and Nunthorpe starting earlier than at present and with three through trains to Whitby
