In recent weeks the Durham coast line has played host to two unusual and different trains. September saw a visit by Network Rail’s Inspection Coach (known as Caroline) which was propelled by the unusual combination of Class 37 and Class 20 locomtives
Whilst October witnessed the passing of the prestigious Royal Scotsman train. The latter consists of ten luxury coaches made up of sleeping cars, dining cars and day cars for just forty pasengers and also a staff accommodation car and runs tours mainly to the Scottish highlands. Be prepared to pay around £1000 per day for the experience!
